This is full of nonsense.....stay away from flash/natural light is best. Doesn't the blogger understand light? I mean, seriously. Authenticity is key. Understanding body language is vital. And you are unlikely to get a decent image with a 'phone (unless you are a gibbon, your arms are not going to be long enough to get the right geometry from the lens). Lets just stop this: you cannot take a 'good' selfie and expect to be taken seriously professionally. @Lee Coles I really don't understand this comment at all. If someone hasn't put a photo up yet, how long will it take to hire a pro? A week or so? Leave it blank until then. As for updating the profile, most professional headshot photographers will supply a range of images so you can change them up every so often. Everyone I've spoken to about this article (both photographers and non photographers) have all agreed it's very bad advice and incredibly unprofessional.
