  • Currently, I’m the head of business development for Room 214, a social media agency here in Boulder that has been in business for 6 years. I can tell you more about our capabilities if you are interested after the presentation.
Graduated from the Leeds School of Business in 2009 with an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Marketing
Have 5 years of experience in PR and marketing -- mostly in the entertainment industry
I’ve worked as an investment banker helping to raise VC and angel investment as well as position technology companies for acquisition. I also ran a small consulting company that focused in marketing, communication, and entrepreneurial consulting.

  • A lot of stats on this page
27% of online Americans visit a social networking site daily and the average FB user spends 55 minutes a day on FB. FB has more than 25 BILLLION pieces of content shared per month.
45% of all Twitter users are between the ages of 18-35 and 30% of those people have a household income of more than $100K
Most interesting: Adoption rates are ridiculous. Took way less time to hit their tipping point. Radio: 38 years, TB 13 years, iPod: 3 years, FB 100 million users in 9 months.
  • Way that people are using the internet is changing.
  • What is it? Self-expression use to be either private (paintings, poems, composed or play songs) or difficult (struggled to publish or perform creations)
How they work: Fancy yourself as a journalist: blogs. Radio commentator: podcast. TV personality: video
Participation: Now, the tools to create and edit text audio and video are cheap and easy to use and the internet provides many ways to show off your work

  • Social network for everyone: MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn. Brazilians join Google’s orkut, hi5 and Bebo in Europe. I love Shelfari.

Platform for mini-applications. What can you do, what can you share?
  • When people on the internet decide to work together explicitly the results are powerful because of the advanced collaboration tools now available.

  • Encourage Experimentation
    Copy Good Ideas

    NO ONE IS AN EXPERT

  • Think about your goals and be aware of your key performance indicators.
  • So, I’m going to walk you through this chart... just kidding!
