Misquamicut beachfront home sells for $1,625,000
WESTERLY — A beachfront home at 119 Atlantic Ave. has sold for $1,625,000, the highest price for a beachfront home in
Misquamicut in the last four years, according to data from the Rhode Island StateWide Multiple Listing Service. Lila Delman Real
Estate International said it was both the listing and selling company in the transaction, which closed on Jan. 30, and also for a
property at 495 Atlantic Ave., which sold for $1.2 million on Jan. 13. Lori Joyal, managing broker of the Lila Delman office in Watch
Hill, represented the sellers and facilitated for the buyers.
“Misquamicut Beach is now thriving after a setback from Hurricane Sandy,” Joyal said. “The community has bound together while
construction and renovations continue, which represent the refreshed demand for beachfront homes. These two homes
represented extraordinary views along with one of the most beautiful stretch of miles and miles of beachfront. The home at 119
Atlantic Ave. was fully renovated and was recently featured in a Pottery Barn Catalog photo shoot. It is nearly 3,300 square feet
and has four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The seller was the Allen Family Partnership and the buyer was WRI Atlantic
Properties.
Additionally, 495 Atlantic Ave. was chosen for the 2015 HGTV “Tiny House” award, Delman reported.
NEIT receives general authority to award master of science degrees
EAST GREENWICH — New England Institute of Technology President Richard I. Gouse has announced that the New England
Association of Schools and Colleges Commission on Institutions of Higher Education has given the school general authority to
offer masterlevel degree programs within the scope of its mission.
New England Tech’s current Master of Science degree programs all received individual accreditation. With the new designation,
NEIT no longer needs to submit new master’s degree programs to the association for review and approval. The institution’s initial
graduate programs were in occupational therapy (2010), information technology (2012), and construction management (2015).
Gouse said the institute would “continue to develop high quality online/hybrid graduatelevel programs through our newly
established College of Graduate and Professional Studies.”
