    2. 2. Right of Election <ul><li>Provides the member an opportunity to retain membership in their current retirement system when a change in employment requires membership in the other retirement system </li></ul>

CalPERS Members <ul><li>Eligible to elect if employed by: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>County school – classified position </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Board of Governors of CA Community College </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>State Department of Education </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li> OR </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Has 5 years of credited service </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>- Any combination of employers </li></ul></ul></ul>Not required to be both employed by the above employers AND have five years of credited service

    7. 7. 2 - Break in Service <ul><li>Proposed guideline – Not considered a break in service if: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Contract is offered and accepted while actively employed by county school, Board of Governors, Dept. of Education, </li></ul></ul><ul><li>OR </li></ul><ul><ul><li>If contract is offered and accepted during a regular school break (summer vacation, off-track) </li></ul></ul>
    8. 8. 3 -Election for Each Employment Change <ul><li>Recent review of Ed. Code 22508 regarding irrevocable election </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Irrevocable until change in position </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Must qualify for election each time </li></ul></ul>

ACES Enhancement <ul><li>Previous County School Employment flag </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Currently available on ACES </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Last date of previous school employment flag </li></ul><ul><ul><li>New update provides date of last separation </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Refund flag </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Possible update for refund of previous school employment </li></ul></ul>
