  6. 6. Mr. Crabtree – 1904-1922 • On November 4, 1922, after eighteen • years of loving service in the Home, that • esteemed Christian gentleman, Prof. J. T. • Crabtree, folded his hands from earthly toil • and helpfulness and laid himself down to • sleep, enshrined in the hearts of all who • ever came within his ennobling influence. • It would be futile to attempt in this brief • sketch a portrayal of his work, his influence, • his life. His countenance always bespoke • the gentleness of his heart. He still lives • in the lives of the boys and girls that have • gone out from this institution. • After the death of Prof. Crabtree, Rev. • E. W. Leslie was elected as the fifth superintendent • of the Home and served faithfully • and efficiently until September, 1924, when • he resigned. Mr. George R. Santmiers was • elected as the sixth superintendent on October • 7, 1924 and rendered a fine service till • August 31, 1927. • During the holidays of 1922 the main
