the Israelites: 'On the first day of the
seventh month you are to have a day of
rest, a sacred assembly
commemorated with trumpet blasts. 25
Do no regular work, but present an
offering made to the LORD by fire.' "

The Silver Trumpets
• Number 10:1 The LORD said
to Moses: 2 "Make two
trumpets of hammered
silver, and use them for
calling the community
together and for having the
camps set out.
• 3 When both are sounded, the
whole community is to

entrance to the Tent of Meeting.

leaders—the heads of the clans
of Israel—are to assemble

the east are to set out. 6 At the

assembly, blow the

• 2 Then the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I
have delivered Jericho into your hands,
along with its king and its fighting men. 3
March around the city once with all the
armed men. Do this for six days. 4 Have
seven priests carry trumpets of rams' horns
in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march
around the city seven times, with the priests
blowing the trumpets. 5 When you hear them
sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all
the people give a loud shout; then the wall of

• 2 Chronicles 5:13
The trumpeters and singers joined in
unison, as with one voice, to give
praise and thanks to the LORD.
Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals
and other instruments, they raised their
voices in praise to the LORD and sang:
"He is good; his love endures forever."

Victory in Battle-2 Chronicles 13
13 Now Jeroboam had sent troops around to the
rear, so that while he was in front of Judah the
ambush was behind them. 14 Judah turned and saw
that they were being attacked at both front and rear.
Then they cried out to the LORD. The priests blew
their trumpets 15 and the men of Judah raised the
battle cry. At the sound of their battle cry, God
routed Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and
Judah. 16 The Israelites fled before Judah, and God
delivered them into their hands. 17 Abijah and his
men inflicted heavy losses on them, so that there
were five hundred thousand casualties among
Israel's able men. 18 The men of Israel were subdued
on that occasion, and the men of Judah were
victorious because they relied on the LORD, the God
of their fathers.
• 2 Chronicles 23
• 12 When Athaliah heard the noise of the
people running and cheering the king, she
went to them at the temple of the LORD. 13
She looked, and there was the king, standing
by his pillar at the entrance. The officers and
the trumpeters were beside the king, and all
the people of the land were rejoicing and
blowing trumpets, and singers with musical
instruments were leading the praises.
2 Chronicles 29
• 25 He stationed the Levites in the temple of the LORD
with cymbals, harps and lyres in the way prescribed by
David and Gad the king's seer and Nathan the prophet;
this was commanded by the LORD through his prophets.
26 So the Levites stood ready with David's instruments,
and the priests with their trumpets.
• 27 Hezekiah gave the order to sacrifice the burnt
offering on the altar. As the offering began, singing to the
LORD began also, accompanied by trumpets and the
instruments of David king of Israel. 28 The whole
assembly bowed in worship, while the singers sang and
the trumpeters played. All this continued until the
sacrifice of the burnt offering was completed.
• 29 When the offerings were finished, the king
and everyone present with him knelt down
and worshiped. 30 King Hezekiah and his
officials ordered the Levites to praise the
LORD with the words of David and of Asaph
the seer. So they sang praises with gladness
and bowed their heads and worshiped.
• 31 Then Hezekiah said, "You have now
dedicated yourselves to the LORD. Come and
bring sacrifices and thank offerings to the
temple of the LORD." So the assembly
brought sacrifices and thank offerings, and
