Explanation of F-stops <ul><li>Why is a large aperture expressed as a smaller number and a smaller aperture as a large number? </li></ul><ul><ul><li>F-stops are a ratio </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>They express the diameter of the aperture compared to the length of the lens’ focal length </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>So F2 means that the aperture diameter is ½ the length of the lens </li></ul></ul>
