Cloud Stakeholders

Published on

Cloud computing is already a fact, which nobody doubts. Moreover, with cloud technologies, organizations can focus on their main activities. In the cloud each user has access to the highest quality services. Along with the various positive effects, vendors face a number of problems and undeveloped areas. Preparation of the stakeholders is crucial for each project. More or less the technologies are the same, but the way we use them is not the same in the cloud. Former flaws are today’s advantages, former fundamentals for developers are no longer available in the cloud. Are we ready to forget all that we know and start over again to learn and how sustainable is the new knowledge – these are the open questions that stakeholders raise today.

  3. 3. Providers Adopters or Vendors Tool Providers Resellers or Aggregators Consumers or Users
  4. 4. Providers offer clouds to the customer – either via dedicated APIs (PaaS), virtual machines and/or direct access to the resources (IaaS). Note: Hosts of cloud enhanced services (SaaS) are typically referred to as Service Providers, though there may be ambiguity between the terms ServiceProvider and Cloud Provider.
  5. 5. Resellers or Aggregators aggregate cloud platforms from cloud providers to either provide a larger resource infrastructure to their customers or to provide enhanced features. This relates to community clouds in so far as the cloud aggregators may expose a single interface to a merged cloud infrastructure.
  6. 6. Adopters or (Software / Services) Vendors enhance their own services and capabilities by exploiting cloud platforms from cloud providers or cloud resellers. The cloud enhanced services thus effectively become SaaS. a S S a
  7. 7. Consumers or Users make direct use of the cloud capabilities – as opposed to cloud resellers and cloud adopters, however, not to improve the services and capabilities, but to make use of the direct results.
  8. 8. (Cloud) Tool Providers do not actually provide cloud capabilities, but supporting tools such as programming environments, virtual machine management etc.
