Communication within Elluminate<br />Chat message to entire room or individuals - instructor sees all of the messages to entire rooms and individuals<br />Blue door when you are not present<br />Microphone when you are speaking – like a walkie-talkie<br />Raise your “hand” symbol so you can have permission to speak in microphone<br />

Other Useful Features on Elluminate<br />You can choose layout of whiteboard to fit your screen under View<br />Laser pointer is used to point out important information – each person can use a laser on a screen <br />number of activities you can do with this<br />point out where they are located or point out important information<br />

Instructor/Student View<br />Students can be working on an activity in Elluminate while teacher works with a person one-on-one<br />Instructor can work with individual students publicly or privately<br />Different uses for each<br />Activities can be done anonymously or with names as a class<br />Low levels of accountability and embarrassment vs. high levels of accountability<br />
  6. 6. Clip Art within Elluminate<br />Focus of the session was on clipart for Elluminate and interactive whiteboards<br />Clip art – ideal for visual learners in class<br />Elluminate has pre-loaded clipart – each student can bring in images<br />
  7. 7. Student Pics<br />You can have students pictures uploaded – use them for introductions, grouping students (see who is in their group)<br />Students upload picture at beginning of class and then you upload it into clipart (sized them down, and put a box around the picture)<br />
  8. 8. Using Clip Art in Elluminate or on Interactive White Boards<br />Images copied to give them a quick reminder of where to go (Elluminate features, Microsoft tools)<br />Catchy examples for first slide as they come into class<br />
  9. 9. Math ClipArt<br />Calculator –different brands that your students would use<br />coins (ESL students, foreign language)<br />graphs and number lines<br />
  10. 10. Science ClipArt<br />Key Concept maps – continuous for the class – big picture of the class (could be used in any type of classroom)<br />Labs – all the pieces of it<br />
