 Electronic dance music that originated in Croydon, in
South London; an offshoot of U.K. garage.
 “Tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass
lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples,
and occasional vocals” –Allmusic.com
 Known for its strong beats, dark atmosphere, and
heavy bass. It has influences from other genres
including drum n’ bass, dub (reggae), 2-step, glitch,
and hip-hop and fused into its own unique blend.
 Earliest dubstep released in 1998.
 Became more mainstream in 2007.

been on the Top 100.
