- 10. 10 天水婶 清朝时，杜天水带领拓荒队伍从福 建来到埔里，由于平地都被开垦完 了， During the Qing Dynasty, Du Tian Shui brought an exploration team from Fujian to Puli. The plain fields had already been put to use,
- 11. 11 他们就往山里寻找，最后在乌溪上 游发现一片适合居住与开垦的肥沃 土地。 so they went to the mountains to see if there was any fertile land left where they could settle down and grow crops. Finally, they found some land upstream of Wu Xi
- 12. 12 有一天，大家正忙着种田时，突然 射来数十枝的弓箭，所有人赶紧往 家里逃， One day, when everyone was busy on the field, all of a sudden, a dozen bows were shot toward them. All the people rushed to hide.
- 13. 13 这时一群原住民把他们围住，其中 的首领说：「这里的土地是我们的， 你们不可以在这里种田，否则把你 们统统杀光。」 Before long, they were surrounded by a group of aboriginals. The head of the aboriginal people said to them, “This land is ours. You cannot grow crops here, or I will kill every single one of you!”

- 17. 17 到了八月十四日晚上，杜天水还没 出现，首领越等越生气，十五日天 一亮，就下令将天水婶处死。 On the night of August 14th, Du Tian Shui didn’t show up. The chief was enraged. Before dawn, he gave the order to kill his wife.
- 18. 18 中午时杜天水一群人挑着货物到了， 大家一看到天水婶的尸体，气得拿 刀要去砍首领， At noon, Tian Shui Du and his people carrying the cargo arrived. People saw her corpse and had a hard time controlling their anger. They wanted to kill the chief to get even.
