  • Expose youth to career options they never knew existed Narrow down choices based on strengths and interests Focus on soft skill building that is currently lacking in Generation Y Giving youth an edge over same aged individuals who are exiting high school and entering the workforce Students spend a specific number of hours working through KeyTrain Hard Skills (Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, Locating Information) – Also spend a specific number of hours working through KeyTrain Soft Skills (Work Habits, The Job Search, Communication Skills, Workplace Effectiveness, Business Etiquette). Soft Skill building is followed by a mock interview, a job shadow, and a powerpoint presentation. Students also complete the WorkKeys exam. Businesses provide job shadowing sites / experiences, conduct interviews, provide work experiences, and participate in relevant community experiences, request profiling for WorkKeys. Support further credentialing and further business awareness of WorkKeys

Job Shadowing in top choice when possible. Discuss process for selection (non-demand occupation) and what happens when youth chooses THREE non-demand occupations.
