  3. 3.  It is time we change our educational system to benefit all! ◦ Our educational system hasn’t changed in 125 years. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ni75vIE4vdk) According to Richard Strong we should focus our education more on our students dreams and passions. We as educators should help them overcome the obstacles that will get in the way of their dreams. Sample footer November 15, 2011 3
  4. 4.  “We do have children in our schools whose cognitive abilities far surpass those of their peers, and we simply must serve these students educationally! This can be done through differentiation, compacting, independent study, and acceleration combined with enrichment.” (Callard-Szulgit, 2003, p. 3). Let’s help our students by creating curriculum that is relevant to their abilities and interests. 5. 5.  I imagine a school where all students… ◦ are part of their learning. ◦ students have a say and teach each other. ◦ network and learn from other adults besides the teacher. ◦ follow their dreams and passions. ◦ work together and learn that we all are important and connected in someway! Education should focus more on aesthetic learning- When senses are operating at their optimal peak. “We should be wakening them(students) up to what is inside of themselves.” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDZFcDGpL4U ) Sample footer November 15, 2011 5
  6. 6.  We are lucky. We live in a world where we can connect to 2 billion people with the touch of our fingers to a computer. If we help our students network and learn to connect to the world, I believe great things will come! It is time we let our students be part of the educational system and let the educator advise them on how to make their dreams come true!
