The ascendancy of the “maker movement” over the last ten years has created exciting new opportunities for some, but it has arguably exacerbated educational inequalities—providing valuable resources to a privileged few while reinforcing gender and racial stereotypes. This talk takes a celebratory and critical look at the history of the maker movement.
