Good teachers:Are committed to their students.Deal with a wide range of student abilities andchallenges.Adapt instruction and assessment to students’needs.Take care of the emotional needs of theirstudents, propping up sagging self esteem andencouraging responsibility.Carefully plan and teach the basic procedures forliving and learning in their classes.

It is a distinct discipline with its own theories,research methods, problems and techniques.Educational psychology focuses on the study oflearning outcomes, student attributes, andinstructional processes directly related to theclassroom and the school, such as amount ofinstructional time or individual differences inschool learning.
  3. 3. Educational Psychology research focus on childand adolescent development; learning andmotivation-including how people learn differentacademic subjects such as reading ormathematics; social and cultural influences onlearning; teaching and learning; andassessment, including testing. (Alexander &Winne, 2006)
  4. 4. For students who are or expect to be teachers,it is the accumulated knowledge, wisdom, andtheory that every teacher should possess tointelligently solve the daily problems ofteaching.Educational psychology cannot tell teacherswhat to do, but it can give them the principlesto use in making a good decision and alanguage to discuss their experiences andthinking.
  5. 5.  Help gather information for teachers and parents when students have academic or behavioral problems. Assist by evaluating students thinking abilities and assessing individual strengths and weaknesses. Together with parents and teachers, they formulate plans to help students learn more effectively.
  6. 6.  Work mostly in elementary and secondary school classrooms. May work in other settings such as colleges, consulting organizations, corporations, industry, the military, and religious institutions.
  7. 7. The goals of educational psychology are tounderstand and to improve the teaching andlearning processes.Educational psychologists develop knowledgeand methods.They examine what happens when someoneteaches something to someone else in somesetting.
