Exodus 20:1-3 And God spoke all these words, saying: {2} "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. {3} "You shall have no other gods before Me.” B. Mat 22:37-38 Jesus said to him, " 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' {38} "This is the first and great commandment. C. Humanism makes us our own God. D. Hedonism makes pleasure our God. E. Materialism makes things our God.

Exodus 20:4-6 "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; {5} you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, {6} but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.” B. I wish I had a little red box to put my Jesus in, I’d take him out and kiss, kiss, kiss and put him back again???

He falls down before it and worships it, Prays to it and says, “Deliver me, for you are my god!” C. Some just want God available when they need or want Him.

Not Taking God Seriously A.Exodus 20:7 "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.” B.Mat 12:36-37 “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. {37} “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Exodus 20:8-11 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. {9} Six days you shall labor and do all your work, {10} but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. {11} For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.” B. Mark 2:27 And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. C. It is a principle not a rule, it is a gift not a burden.

Mat 5:21-22 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.' {22} "But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of hell fire. C. We move towards murder when we despise, demean, damage or diminish another person

Not Taking Life Seriously D.Rom 13:8-10 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. {9} For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” {10} Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Eph 4:15, 29 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head; Christ;… {29} Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. C. Before speaking negatively about another person, ask 4 questions 1. Is this true? 2. Is this necessary? 3. Is this loving? 4. Is this helpful or hurtful?
