Go for mini lessons with micro-learning process for description-type language development of children with special needs Lalit Kishore A mini-lesson for children has content with not more than six new words for children with special needs (CWSN) and requires micro-learning process with a protocol of more than six steps to be performed with building the sight vocabulary first, which is followed by modeling, echo-speaking, recognition evaluation, remediation, over-learning. The reinforcement of vocabulary must be done card games, board games and word puzzles. For CWSN, Mini Lessons in language learning are taken up after having learnt alphabet. They have been found viable as has been verified by a few lesson studies at Disha in clinical situation by this investigator assisted by Vibhanshu Gaur and Varsha Tikkiwal (a fmni- focus group and transactional team). After, min-poems (4-line attributive poems) and mini-stories (4X4 format), it was decided by the focus group after 15 minute discussion to have 4 description-type lessons which should be based on description of daily objects and classification such as colours, objects in bath room, objects in kitchen, objects at home, vehicles, traffic lights, greetings and manners. For grade two, the following 4 descriptive type mini-lessons were suggested as follows. 1. Recognition of four colours (red, yellow, green, blue) 2. Manners (Good morning, good afternoon, bye-bye, I am fine, thank you, welcome) 3. Bathroom objects ( tap, wash basin, soap, brush) 4. Kitchen utensils (cup, plate, spoon, glass) The lesson content norms: 3 X 4 (3 para of 4 lines each) Note: Earlier, 4 stories and 4 poems were created for grade two Hindi as mini-lessons learning package.
