HSE figures 2008/09 <ul><li>180 people were killed at work </li></ul><ul><li> </li></ul><ul><li>131,895 other injuries to employees were reported under RIDDOR </li></ul><ul><li>29.3 million days were lost overall (1.24 days per worker),  </li></ul><ul><ul><li>24.6 million due to work-related ill health </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>4.7 million due to workplace injury. </li></ul></ul>80% + of all workplace accidents due to behaviour

Risk Assessment – what is it? <ul><li>Without stating the obvious, </li></ul><ul><li>it’s a judgement , </li></ul><ul><li>made by knowledgeable people </li></ul><ul><li>of the potential hazards that could be present in the workplace, and </li></ul><ul><li>the likelihood of such hazards actually occuring </li></ul>
