  3. 3. What is Desktop? - The large area that is the upper part of the screen is called the Desktop.
  4. 4. Parts of the Desktop 1. Taskbar - a long horizontal bar at the bottom of a desktop. 2. Icons - a small image with a text label represents a command. 3. Wallpaper - the background screen of a desktop. 4. START button – It is a button found on the lower left part of the desktop. 5. System Tray – this is where you can find icons belonging to some of the programs that are currently running. 6. Quick Launch Bar – it provides an easy way to launch a program with just one click.
  5. 5. Common Icons Found on the Desktop 1. 2. 3. 4. My Computer – it gives access to anything saved in the computer hard drives. Recycle Bin – this is a temporary storage place for deleted files. My Network Places – it provides access to network resources. Internet Explorer – It is used to surf the net.
