Poverty in canada

  1. 1. POVERTY IN CANADA By: Kylie
  2. 2. WHERE? Poverty exists everywhere. Whether you know it or not. Out of all Canada poverty occurs mainly in B.C. Canada is 7th for the amount of child poverty out of the countriesbelow. United States is First.
  3. 3. HOW MUCH??? Poverty rate has decreased about 7% from 1970- 2005. Last time the amount of homeless people were counted was in2008. The number that was decided was 260 homeless people inSaskatoon – 228 adults, and 32 children. And that’s just in Saskatoonnot all of Canada. That number is also not including families with homes that arestarving.
  4. 4. WHY? Poverty exists because some people are selfish and demanding. Because of peoples high expectations of what they need to live causes the storesto raise prices, because they know people will still buy. But some people can notafford things at such high prices. They also sometimes may not have got a good education in their childhood sothey are not able to get a job and make money. There are many other reasons regarding personal decisions and each person hasa different story they may not share. But those are the main 3 reasons.
  5. 5. CHILD POVERTY More than one seventh of Canadian Children live in poverty. Children often live in poverty because their parents do. Or thereparents weren’t educated so they can’t get jobs. Often if parents aren’teducated neither are their children.
  6. 6.  This is a young teenage boy. No one knows the cause of this but it is sad thatthis happens to such young people.
  7. 7. She is cold, hungry, and has little to no education. No one has the nerves to help herand no one tries to change this girls life one bit. Because no one realizes she is nodifferent then you or I. She is just a normal girl who is waiting for someone to help
