  31. 31. It contained information on what motivates employees<br />Hmmm…interesting<br />
  32. 32. Motivation has 4 main drives<br />A: Drive to Acquire & Achieve<br />B: Drive to Bond & Belong <br />C: Drive to Challenge & Comprehend<br />D: Drive to Define & Defend<br />

  34. 34. Ted’s manager implemented some ideas from the book…<br />The New Rules<br />Reward team and individual PERFORMANCE<br />More TEAMBUILDING and BONDING<br />Focus on CREATING CHALLENGING jobs and OPPORTUNITIES to learn <br />Highlight the GOOD THINGS that we do and PEOPLE WE HELP<br />

  37. 37. Ted’s manager structured pay and rewards to leverage the drive to Acquire & Achieve <br />Bonus Check <br /> $$$<br />
  38. 38. Now Ted earned based on how well he and his team performed! <br />If my team and I meet our goals we earn!<br />Bonus Check <br /> $$$<br />
  39. 39. And Ted’s manager also focused on really recognizing behaviors that were beneficial to the company!<br />Well done Ted!<br />Great Job!<br />

  41. 41. Ted’s manager also started to foster bonding and helped create opportunities for social interaction <br />
  42. 42. Which helped Ted form some close bonds that helped him work more effectively and enjoy work more<br />
  43. 43. And Ted took on new learning opportunities <br />
  44. 44. I want to learn how to master this project – I know I have a high drive to be challenged!<br />And Ted took on new learning opportunities <br />
  45. 45. And his manager helped by giving him some new challenging assignments!<br />
  46. 46. While his manager still talked about the numbers…<br />
  47. 47. …he also talked about how their work did great things for people!<br />
  48. 48. Ted started to regain his feeling of pride about what the company does and how it acts<br />
  49. 49. …It didn’t happen over night…<br />
  50. 50. It didn’t happen over night…but Ted started to be motivated again!<br />I want to go to work again!<br />
