2. Handling
Definitions
HANDLING: means loading, unloading, packaging or
unpacking dangerous goods in a means of containment
for the purposes of, in the course of, or following
transportation, and includes storing them in the course
of transport of transport.
OVERPACK: An enclosure such as a box or bag which is
used by a single consignor to facilitate as a handling unit a
consignment of one or more packages for convenience
of handling, stowage and carriage.

3. SAFE HANDLING
Dangerous goods are packaged and labelled to mitigate
the risk of release.
This may mean that package may have specific packaging
requirements which require additional measures to be

6. Documentation
A shipping document relates to dangerous goods that are
being handled, offered for transport or transported and that
contains specified information.
Shipping documents include the Shipper’s Declaration
Form (IATA DGR), the DG Shipping Document (TDGR)
and the waybill.

– Ensure the information is accurate, easy to identify,
durable and legible
– Ensure the form is signed
