  2. 2. This presentation on psychic development is prepared in response to the following question that A great philosopher educationist Shri J.Krishnamurthy posed to the teachers. How will you, as a community of teachers, when you see the importance of the child being completely free and also realize that there must be discipline and order- how will you help him so that he flowers in freedom and order ? Your shouting at the child is not going to do it. Any form of compulsion, bullying or system of giving him marks or no marks is not going to do it. If you see the importance of the boy being free and at the same time highly orderly, and if you see that punishment or cajoling him is not going to produce anything, will you completely drop all that in yourself ?
  3. 3. The answer is ‘NO’ we will not give up ! As we believe in the light and look for the light in the child, we will persist in our efforts to tickle his heart, psyche and go on motivating him till he starts looking for his own light forcing in himself and allows it more and more to guide him.
  4. 4. What is expected of us as teachers, parents & felicitators to perceive him as a being of soul and spirit hiding with in himself a mystery to be unfolded and infinite possibilities to be exposed Is he just a body, mind and intellect , ? who has a beautiful voice, who likes to sing , but dislikes mathematics, loves science but dislikes painting loves drawing dislikes sports OR He has other dimensions which are far wider and deeper. ?
  5. 5. This is true – He is not just body , mind and intellect but a being of soul and spirit.
  6. 6. PHYSICAL DIMENSION Every human being carries along with him the most refined and the subtlest Equipment that includes body , mind , Intellect along with other dimensions.

  8. 8. I PHYSICAL DIMENSION The outermost layer that represents his body, bones, flesh, the way he / she looks. It forms just 1% of his personality.
  9. 9. II - MENTAL SELF It represents his mind. Our knowledge of various subjects – science, humanities, world affairs, the experiences we gather, all these go into forming our mental self. It forms only 3% of one personality.
  10. 10. III DIMENSION - INTELLECTUAL It represents the intellectual aspect of his personality. This takes the decisions. It discriminates between right and wrong. It forms 6% of his personality.
  11. 11. Beyond all these three dimensions – body, mind and intellect – is his eternal divine self, the core of his personality where resides his eternal truth, his soul, his physic being, where his old “Sanskars”, the balance of gains and pairs of his spirituals life are deposited. It is here in seed form his strengths, forces, potentials hidden. It forms 90% of his personality; that is never reached, contacted or attended.
  12. 12. 100% of our efforts, time, resources are directed towards 1% ( body /matter) -of our personality, neglecting our most essential domain, the psychic aspect of our personality. It remains veiled, closed, buried under our outer crest, for want of support and attention .
  13. 13. We live mostly in the surface mind that takes all our decisions at superficial level, not consulting the soul the VERY TRUTH OF OUR BEING , thus Taking the risk of our own destruction spiritual catastrophe.

Every human being needs to awaken activate his psychic being so that it becomes Operative, Functional in our day to day life , so that each person, community and nation live from its own Eternal Truth. Psychic being is the intermediary between the Divine Consciousness and our external consciousness, that manfests in the outer nature, the order, the rule of the Divine will.
  15. 15. <ul><li>TO ENABLE THE CHILDREN TO BE SELF </li></ul><ul><li>DIRECTED HIGHLY , ORDELY, BEAUTIFUL AND </li></ul><ul><li>MOTIVATED WE NEED TO MAKE A SHIFT: </li></ul><ul><li>From cajoling and judging him to respecting diversity, </li></ul><ul><li>his individuality. </li></ul><ul><li>From product based to process based learning. </li></ul><ul><li>From talking to the child to talking with </li></ul><ul><li>him. </li></ul><ul><li>From directing to listening to the child </li></ul><ul><li>From a task master to a helper and a guide. </li></ul><ul><li>From impositions and constraints to freedom </li></ul><ul><li>to choose. </li></ul><ul><li>From criticism to healthy communication and </li></ul><ul><li>interaction. </li></ul><ul><li>From putting moral tags to a trophy of good words </li></ul><ul><li>and praise. </li></ul>
  16. 16. ENVIRONMENT We need to be very conscious and sensitive to the environment that we offer to the child. ALL ARE WORDS, MOODS, THOUGHTS, SENTIMENTS, VIBRATIONS, SENSETIONS, IMPRESSIONS, EMOTIONS AND REACTIONS . Present in our environment have a profound influence in the making of Psychic Being of the child. Uplifting words, songs, music, dancing, paintings,Inspiring pictures on the walls, flowers, aesthetically arranged things, furniture facilitate psychic living. Supply interesting material in the class and home to foster creativity.
  17. 17. SOME MORE TIPS FOR ‘PSYCHIC DEVELOPMENT ’ Children should be given time and space for self observations, self-witnessing looking at their own actions and reaction. Make him do meditation. Let meditation become a play. Make him sit in silence for a few minutes and be open to light of aspiration in his heart. Take him deep into the things , make him conscious of God The supreme farmer, the SCIENTIST , THE CONTROLLER AND THE CARE TAKER. PERSUADE HIM TO BE WITH YOU , WHEN YOU PRAY, STUDY, MEDITATE , WORK. Walk with him in the nature where the contact with the psyche is natural. Encash on the sensitive moments like using compassionate words, When somebody is in need, Understanding smile or nod that has a healing touch. Censor too much television watching -regular watching of violence, sex in television ruins his inner environment. It makes the child tune his instrument to resonate with violence and aggression . Instead of this read good books to him.
  18. 18. Develop , train and sharpen the powers and capacities of his outer instruments ,mind, body, vital and intellect so that they become Agile and fit instrument to express His divinity
  19. 19. I hope these points will help all those who wish to integrate spirituality in their work and contribute in the evolution of the coming generation that will live from its inner truth.
