Professional Development • Career Development Facilitator Training (CDF) – Advances the skills and knowledge of individuals working in career development to a high level. – Delivered in a 120-hour e-learning course is centered on the 12 career development competencies. – Convenient format combines online instruction with a three-day face-to-face group session. – Personal attention from a highly qualified NCDA-approved instructor. – Participants are eligible for certification as a Global CDF.

Labor Market Information and Resources – Understand labor market and occupational information and trends; use current resources. 3. Assessment – Comprehend and use (under supervision) both formal and informal career development assessments with emphasis on relating appropriate ones to the population served. 4. Working with Diverse Populations – Recognize special needs of various groups and adapting services to meet their needs. 5. Ethical and Legal Issues – Follow the CDF code of ethics and know current legislative regulations. 6. Career Development Theories and Models – Learn theories and knowledge considered essential for professionals engaging in career counseling and development.

Training Clients and Peers – Prepare and develop materials for training programs and presentations 9. Program Management and Implementation – Understand career development programs and assist in the steps related to their development 10. Promotion and Public Relations – Know how to market and promote career development programs with staff and supervisors 11. Technology and Career Development – Comprehend and use career development computer applications 12. Consultation/Supervision – Accept suggestions for performance improvement from consultants or supervisors.

Professional Development • Career Advisor Training® (CAT) – Offers professionals the skills and knowledge they need to deliver career exploration, career decision making, job seeking, and job placement services. – Covers the 12 core competencies of career development used by the National Career Development Association (NCDA) – Delivered in three courses and various formats:  Essentials™ – 10 hours all online  Advanced™ – 30 hours, online or face-to-face  Masters™– 40 hours, online or face-to-face
  13. 13. Career Advisor Training®: Essentials™ • Essentials™ – Teachers, administrators, and parents. – 10 hours entirely online. – Self-directed and self-paced. – Four modules.

Essentials Modules • Career Guidance Theory • The Essential Helping Skills – Conduct an effective intake interview with individuals in their target population. – Prepare students/clients to make effective use of an online career planning system. – Follow through with students/clients after use of an online career planning system. – Recognize special needs of various groups and adapt services to meet their needs. – Identify and describe the characteristics of the target population they serve. – Assist with identification of members or categories of members in that population.
  15. 15. Career Advisor Training®: Advanced™ • Advanced™ – Counselors, career coaches, and workforce development staff. – 30 hours in a hybrid version or completely face-to-face. – Private and public courses available.  Next public course begins in early 2014. – Nine modules.
