  2. 2. Childhood <ul><li>They think he was born in 1584 </li></ul><ul><li>Shinmen Takezo is his birth name </li></ul><ul><li>Born in a village named Miyamoto </li></ul><ul><li>He was born in Harima Province </li></ul><ul><li>He has said that he defeated his first opponent at age 13 </li></ul>

Life <ul><li>He was the greatest samurai of all time. </li></ul><ul><li>Musashi got into a battle with the Yoshioka School of swordsmanship and won </li></ul><ul><li>At age 13, he was victorious over a very powerful martial artist named Akiyama of Tajima </li></ul><ul><li>Along with being a Samurai, he was also an amazing painter </li></ul>

Life (continued) <ul><li>It is said that Musashi helped write the Shimabara Rebellion of 1638 </li></ul><ul><li>It was said that he had rarely bathed, changed his clothes, and suffered from a disfiguring skin condition </li></ul><ul><li>Since his battle with Sasaki Kojiro , he spent all his time perfecting his style of swordsman ship, travel and reflection </li></ul>
