Scalloped potatoes

  2. 2. Ingredients 2 tbs. unsalted butter 1 ¾ cups heavy cream 1 ¾ cups whole milk 4 cloves garlic 2 tbs. fresh thyme ¼ tbs. nutmeg 2 ½ tsp. salt 1 tsp. pepper 3 ½ lb. Yukon Gold potatoes

  4. 4. Butter a 3-quart baking dish
  5. 5. Peel and Smash the garlic
  6. 6. Whisk the cream, milk, garlic, thyme, nutmeg, salt and pepper. ..
  7. 7. …bring to a simmer over medium heat stirring occasionally…
  8. 8. …remove from heat and cool in pan to room temperature…
  9. 9. …strain through a fine sieve.
  10. 10. Peel and Slice potatoes 1/8 inch thick
  11. 11. Arrange about 1/3 of the potatoes in an overlapping layer in baking dish...
  12. 12. …pour about 1/3 of cream mixture over the potatoes...
  13. 13. …repeat twice more with the rest of the potatoes and cream mixture.
  14. 14. But butter into small pieces.
  15. 15. Dot the butter over the top of baking dish.
  16. 16. Cover with aluminum foil.
