  2. 2. Due to profits being made, draw on your map 1 nice house anywhere you want it to be 1 canal (from the river away from the village; while your river is wavy the canal should be straight – it’s man made!) ROUND 1 - 1745
  3. 3. Because of a population increase, draw on your map 5 more houses ROUND 2 - 1750
  4. 4. Because of the Enclosure Acts Add 1 more nice house Draw a fence that separates half of your “common” land (open space that was owned in common by the village) ROUND 3 - 1760
  5. 5. Because of the change from the cottage industry to the factory system, add to your map 1 factory (must be placed along the river somewhere – for power) No smoke coming off factory! This is an old hydro- powered water wheel factory ROUND 4 – 1773
  6. 6. There is migration because of the need for work. Add to your map 5 houses 1 church 1 pub 1 store At least two additional roads 1 more bridge ROUND 5 - 1774
  7. 7. Because of the enormous profits from the factory Add 5 more factories (still need to be near the river) ROUND 6

  20. 20. Some urban dwellers are doing well (the emerging middle class). For them, add: 2 theaters 2 private schools ROUND 19 - 1842
  21. 21. The results of industrialization and urbanization are very detrimental to people’s lives. Add 1 cemetery 1 jail 1 hospital ROUND 20 - 1845
