  • Discuss who is all involved in ensuring the success of a chapter. After discussing the first five key players (copilots and passengers) click once to bring up PARENTS.
  • Discuss ways parents are currently involved in the chapter. After discussion, introduce idea of the “parent liaison”.
  • The role of a Best Buddies Parent Liaison (PL) is to serve as the primary connection between a Best Buddies chapter, the Best Buddies state office, and parents of the chapter participants.
  • PLs will be provided with training and support from the Best Buddies staff. PLs will also be provided with the parent contact information (primarily E-mail addresses) to help parents stay informed about future Best Buddies events, share information about upcoming programs and conferences for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and serve as a general support for the chapter. This position can be as involved as the PL is able!

  • Open discussions regarding parent involvement in other states and obstacles that students face when trying to include parents in fundraising initiatives.
