This document summarizes a bug-themed 3rd birthday party. Decorations included green, yellow, and orange tablecloths with plastic bugs, easter grass, plastic leaves, and balloons with paper wings and faces. Activities included painting coffee filter butterflies, a bug hunt with a prize for the first to find a candle-taped bug, a bug relay crawl through an obstacle course, and a game of "bug bug spray" similar to duck duck goose. The cake was shaped like a bug with a green frostied body, licorice antennae and legs, and googly eyes. Food included ants on a log and butterfly hot dogs.
1. Bug Bash
This was for my sons 3rd b-day
Decorations:
I went to the dollar store and picked up a bunch of
green, yellow, and orange table clothes. Plastic
bugs that I put over the table clothes on different
tables. I used easter grass and some plastic leaves
also. I usaully do a lot of searching once I pick my
theme and get a lot of Ideas from
birthdaypartyideas.com I had a bunch of balloons
that we put paper wings on and drew faces. I aso
put a bunch of googly eyes out. For each child I
made bug intenas out of poster board and pipe
cleaners I stapeled them around each childs head. I
hung green xmas lights around the party area and
green streamers. I had my children make a bunch of
bugs out of eeg cartons( painted rows of three
green, whole punch bottom 6 holes on bottom and
two on the top for antennas and legs which were
made out of pipe cleaners. Glue on google eyes this
is a Caterpillar.)
Activities: Water color butterflies: Kids painted
coffee filters with different colors ( easy on the
painting so it doesn't rip) After they were done
painting I blow dryed them as the kids played a game.
Children came back when they were all dry I then
helped them bunch them up and put them inside
clothes pins they then glued different color puff
balls on top and made intenas out of pipe cleaners
with a bead wrapped at the end of them.
2. Bug hunt: I put plastic bugs all over the yard and
had the children each grab a bucket and walk
around and collect them on one of the bugs there
was a candle tapped to it who ever found it was
first person picked in the next game.
Bug Relay: Children had to crawl around a home
made obstacle coarse a few things they had to hop
over things it was very simple to come up with the
ideas for this game.
Bug Bug Spray: Simple game of duck duck goose
Run around and dance time kids always need time to
run free of course with supervision.
My Favorite Part the Cake: I used a medium size bowl
for the head and a bigger pyrex bowl for the body
after it was baked I put it on a board that I
decorated with grass and flowers I covered it in
green frosting and used some Smarties to put polka
dots all over it. Then added intenas with licorice
and eyes were google eyes I also added lots of legs
with the licorice.
Food: Ants on a log, Buterfly Hot dogs: Hot Dogs
in a bun with potato chips coming out of the side of
the bun for wings. Sometimes its fun to have a pot
luck and have friends become buggy creative. I will
soon add pictures his is my first blog if any
