  2. 2. Recap…. <br />Akrura was sent to Hastinapura to check on Dhrtrastra’sbehaviour towards his nephews<br />Akrura delivered message to Dhrtrastra and spoke of Dharma<br />Dhrtrastra accepted his biasness and left everything to destiny<br />Akrura related everything to Krishna and Balaram<br />

Krishna erects Dwarakafort<br />After Kamsa’s death, his 2 wives left for their father’s place<br />In Vedic culture , women have to be protected:<br />Before marriage she should live with her father<br />After marriage, she should be with her husband<br />In the event of her husband’s death she should either live with her children or her parents depending on the circumstances<br />
  4. 4. King Jarasandha<br />Their father was the King of Magada (Bihar)<br />Was mortified on hearing the news<br />Avenged to rid the whole Yadu clan<br />
  5. 5. ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK!<br /><ul><li>Made extensive arrangements to attack Mathura
  6. 6. With thousands of soldiers, elephants, horses and soldiers, he attacked Mathura with 13 phalanxes

Lord Krishna appeared as a human being and saw Jarasandha’s immense strength.</li></li></ul><li>Lord’s Mission<br />paritranayasadhunamvinasaya ca duskrtamdharma-samsthapanarthayasambhavamiyugeyuge<br />In order to deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I advent Myself millennium after millennium.   8. 8. Lord was thinking ….<br />What is my mission?<br />Should I kill Jarasandha?<br />Should I kill the troops?<br />Lord decided to destroy the troops of Jarasandha<br />Lord Krishna is the most intelligent<br />While thinking, 2 military chariots fully equipped arrived from outer space<br />
  9. 9. Krishna and Balaram<br />Requested Balaram to join Him<br />They have both descended for the same purpose<br />
  10. 10. “ Compassionate “Jarasandha<br /><ul><li>Krishna had a small army compared to Jarasandha’s
  11. 11. He became compassionate because Krishna and Balaram were related as grandsons
  12. 12. He addressed Krishna as “Purushadhama”</li></li></ul><li>PurusadhamavsPurusottama<br />Purusadhama means lowest among men<br />Purushottama – Highest among men!<br />Acharya’s explanation:<br />purusadhama to be "one who makes all other personalities go downward."<br />
  13. 13. Started criticizing the Lord<br />Great dishonourto fight with boys<br />Addressed him as killer of his own relatives<br />Criticized for not being a Kshatriya because he was hidden and was raised as a Vaishya<br />Finding faults is a tendency that we should eradicate<br />
  14. 14. Jarasandha told Baladev…<br />If you want you can fight along with him<br />If you have patience you can wait to be killed and be promoted to heaven, or kill me! <br />Kshatriyas go to heaven in victory or in death in the battlefield.<br />
  15. 15. The great fight is going to start..<br />Don’t talk too much! Just fight!<br />Jarasandha and his army surrounded the army from all sides like how the cloud covers the sun<br />Women of Mathura started fainting<br />Krishna started shooting his arrows when his small army was being harassed and blood started flowing very soon!<br />
  16. 16. Defeated!<br />Balaram and Krishna killed everyone<br />The sole survivor who was not killed was Jarasandha and Baladev started tying him up<br />Krishna told him not to and to let him go<br />Ashamed and frustrated, he wanted to go do some penance and meditation<br />
  17. 17. BAD ADVICE NEVER HELPS<br />On his way back, some royal friends encouraged him to fight again and not retire<br />It was due to past karma that he lost and his fighting had no fault<br />
  18. 18. Lord comes back victorious!<br />Citizens celebrated with great joy!<br />Everyone was offering nice poems, flowers, foodstuff and began to throw grass and yoghurt as per the custom.<br />Krishna presented the jewels collected in the battlefield to Ugrasena<br />
  19. 19. 17 and still a loser!<br />Jarasandha attacked 17 times and every time he was defeated<br />While Jarasandha was attempting one time, a Yavana king also attacked Mathura because of the opulence of the Yadus<br />Yavanas are descendents of Yayati<br />The King of the Yavanas was induced by Narada<br />
  20. 20. 18thAttempt<br />So Kalayavan and Jarasandha happened to attack around the same period.<br />Kalayavan had 30 million soldiers and Jarasandha had the same amount as usual<br />Krishna decided to build a fort where no 2 legged animal , man or demon could go.<br />
  21. 21. FORTRESS DWARAKA<br /><ul><li>Engaged Vishwakarma
  22. 22. Wall covering 96 square miles within the sea itself
  23. 23. There were well planned roads,kalpavrikshasand palaces
  24. 24. All the demigods came individually to present some gift to the Lord
  25. 25. Krishna transferred everyone to the new palaces once it was completed
  26. 26. Krishna entrusted Balaram as the incharge and left to meet Kalayavan</li></li></ul><li>Kalayavan witnessed Krishna<br />Saw him as extraordinary beautiful and in silken yellow garments.<br />He saw Kaustabha,Srivatsa, blooming lotus eyes and his four handed form.<br />Krishna went past and Kalayavan tried catching Krishna but to no avail<br />He can be caught by devotion<br />
  27. 27. - Krishna entered a cave and could not be seen- Kalayavan saw a man lying down and mistook him for Krishna and kicked him.- The mysterious man awoke and burnt Kalayavan to ashes!<br />
