  2. 2. What is vision…. <ul><li>For leaders, a vision is not a dream; it is a reality that has yet to come into existence. Vision is palpable to leaders; their confidence in and dedication to vision are so strong they can devote long hours over many years to bring it into being. In this way, a vision acts as a force within, compelling a leader to action. It gives a leader purpose, and the power of the vision and the leader's devotion to it work to inspire others-- who, sensing purpose and commitment, respond. </li></ul><ul><li>All students must have access to up to date technology. This technology will work in addition to and complement regular classroom instruction. Current technology needs to be accessible to all types of learners, including children with intensive special needs. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Vision <ul><li>The vision of all educators is aiding in student achievement and success. It is imperative that all students are ready for the 21st century. Within this vision, students must have all the tools needed to be: </li></ul><ul><li>Globally Competitive Students </li></ul><ul><li>21st Century Professionals </li></ul><ul><li>Leaders in Innovation </li></ul><ul><li>Leaders among their peers </li></ul>

Describing each strand of the vision…. <ul><li>Globally Competitive Students are: </li></ul><ul><li>Students will excel in rigorous and relevant core curriculum that reflects what students need to know and demonstrate in a global 21 st Century environment, including a mastery of languages, an appreciation of the arts, and competencies in the use of technology. </li></ul>

Strands cont… <ul><li>21 st Century Professionals must educate all children, accommodate for different types of learners, create strategic readers and writers, create independent thinkers and problem solvers. These professionals must also give students the tools to be independent learners. </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>Leaders in Innovation must seek and support teaching and learning activities that involve students and teachers from different systems. These opportunities are available through North Carolina Virtual Public School, Learn and Earn Online, UNCG iSchool and other distance programs. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Time, Access and Support <ul><li>Time to plan and implement for technology is important. Having time for staff development is vital. Without this, the staff will not have the proper training and experience needed to utilize the software that has been chosen for the system. </li></ul><ul><li>Creating half days one time a month for technology support and training allows time for all staff to be involved in the training. </li></ul><ul><li>Providing Instructional Technology Facilitators and Technology Help Desk Personnel are important in providing day to day support of the staff. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Goal Resources Staffing Time-line <ul><li>Globally </li></ul><ul><li>Competitive Students </li></ul>Uniform software such as ClassScape, Study Island, and NC Falcon. Most people want to make the change overnight, or expect things will magically work out perfectly, but it takes time to achieve that balance – and that level of success in both your personal life and your business. </li></ul>
