  14. 14. bit.ly/295Jo5b Background of Development of the Bilingual Sentence Flashcard Maker
  15. 15. bit.ly/295Jo5b Background of the Development of the Bilingual Sentence Flashcard Maker  Originally, Bilingual Sentence Flashcard Maker was one of the software supported by JSPS KAKENHI GRANT. (Number 24520675, 26370680, 26370883)  JSPS KAKENHI Grant Number 24520675, Activation of Beginners-level Foreign Language Classroom and Facilitation of Presenting Digital Teaching Material Utilizing Database Software, was a collaborative project consisted of 12 teachers (later 14 teachers) of 7 languages (later 9 languages) which mainly aimed at Minimum equipment, Maximum learning effect.
  16. 16. bit.ly/295Jo5b Six digital teaching tools were developed by the presenter himself. ① Conjugation Presentation Tool(s) ② Bilingual Sentence Flashcard Maker ③ Multiple-Choice Quiz Generator ④ Sentence Transformation Presenter ⑤ Phrase Reading Worksheet Generator ⑥ Flashcard App for iOS Device (depending on how to count 16 tools altogether! Also I’ve developed 8 more software!)
  17. 17. bit.ly/295Jo5b Four of them are for slide show presentation - used for showing educational materials. ① Conjugation Presentation Tool(s) ② Bilingual Sentence Flashcard Maker ③ Multiple-Choice Quiz Generator ④ Sentence Transformation Presenter ⑤ Phrase Reading Worksheet Generator ⑥ Flashcard App for iOS Device
  18. 18. bit.ly/295Jo5b Only two of them have been translated into English. (I left them over for my future work ) ① Conjugation Presentation Tool(s) ② Bilingual Sentence Flashcard Maker ③ Multiple-Choice Quiz Generator ④ Sentence Transformation Presenter ⑤ Phrase Reading Worksheet Generator ⑥ Flashcard App for iOS Device + Cloze Generator supported by my previous grant money.
  19. 19. bit.ly/295Jo5b They are developed using database software.  Why not PowerPoint?  Must prepare all the slide pages to use beforehand  Not easy to choose slide pages to use (→ preparing is a hard work)  Not easy to change an order of sequence (→ not flexible)  Why database software?  Don’t have to prepare all the slide pages to use beforehand  Easy to manage data and layout separately (→ multi-purpose use)  Easy to control what we want to show (→ flexible use)
  20. 20. bit.ly/295Jo5b What is the Minimum Equipment?  The software (Bilingual Sentence Flashcard Maker)  PC, Mac or iPad  Projector and Screen Activation of Foreign Language Classroom Comes True!
  21. 21. bit.ly/295Jo5b What is the recent improvement of Bilingual Sentence Flashcard Maker?  English version available.  iOS version available.  Fixed some bug.  Started providing not only English-Japanese sample files, but also English-Korean version. …That’s all.
  22. 22. bit.ly/295Jo5b OK, then, what can we teachers do for our students?  This software aims at ways, which are never able to accomplish with chalk and blackboard, ordinary tools for teaching.  Reading sentence aloud together is one of the basic method to learn a foreign language. But a “Repeat after me” method does not always work in your classroom.  It depends on your idea! Let’s see DEMO.
