My Monument Design

 1. 1. My Monument Design
Kelly Forsee
2. 2. My Location
I want to be buried at Mt. Moriah Cemetery where my grandfather was buried in 2005. It’s a beautiful place that is close to where I grew up and is in the general area where all my family lives.
It has luscious gardens and a lake with a waterfall. What better place to be put to rest.
3. 3. The Inspiration
I wanted my monument to represent who I am because I don’t want to be remembered as anything different. I want it to show my passion and charisma.
The biggest inspiration for my life is God. I am very active in ministry in my church and outside the church. I am a servant leader. I serve God by serving and leading others.
I am passionate about ministering to others about freedom because I feel it is the most significant part of being a Christian.
I want my head stone to represent FREEDOM and JOY and not sadness and mourning.
4. 4. The Design
I chose to construct a simple granite headstone made of St. Cloud Gray.
Also, I wanted something dark so that the inscription would pop out.
The monument will be about 3 feet high and about 4 feet wide.
5. 5. The Inscription
I want my monument to say:
…for You have set my heart free.
Psalm 119:32
I think this verse best represents how I live life. Not down and heavy hearted but free and light hearted.
The kind of font used for the scripture is called Brush Script MT. I want it to be in cursive and similar to this font used on Microsoft. My name however will be in a traditional font of my family’s choice. I want my dates to be much smaller than the rest of the inscription because I don’t want the emphasis to be on my death.
6. 6. The back of the monument
I want the back of my monument to say:
LEAVE A LEGACY
I want this to remind people of life and how precious it is. It reminds the ones who pass by that there is purpose and destiny in life and we should find and pursue it.
7. 7. Iconography
On the top of my monument I want a dove flying upward toward the sky holding an olive tree branch in its mouth.
The dove best represents my living life in freedom while the olive tree branch represents the peace that I will then have after death and also the peace I want for my family.
8. 8. …For you have set my heart free.
Psalm 119:32
Kelly Marie Forsee
12/03/1988-
9. 9. Leave a Legacy
10. 10. My final thoughts
I wanted my monument to be small and simple because that is who I am. I felt like constructing a huge monument even if I had all the money in the world would not justify my life any better than the one I have designed.
I think I have made one that will make my loved ones proud and help them remember who I was and not that I am gone.
