3. Purpose
• to serve the local community of South Asian origin
• bring help to community Members by way of
networking and liason with other non-profit
organizations in the areas of Emergency Financial
Assistance, Food, Family and Individual Counseling,
Rehabilitation, Employment Assistance, Health Care,
Stress Management, Domestic Abuse Assistance,
Addiction Counseling, Bereavement Support etc.
4. Purpose(Contd.)
o to provide logistic support for foreign students of
South Asian origin studying at Ohio
o to observe and celebrate major festivals of South
Asia and USA
o to foster interest in South Asian culture and
literature, provide an organization for promotion of
drama, literature, poetry, music and dance in Bengali
and other South Asian languages for the benefit and
education of members of the general public.
5. Purpose (Contd.)
o to provide financial assistance for sustainable social
welfare projects in South East Asia
o to organise fund raising concerts and events in order
to further above objectives.
6. Governance
• Incorporated by 3 incorporators
• 7 member Board of Directors includes 3
initial incorporators
• After incorporation initial incorporators will
induct 4 more members
• Single tier governance – Board members
will be the office bearers

12/31/2013
• First election will constitute the Board for
2014 with exception for 1 position
• One member from initial board will be
nominated as 2014 Chairman
• From 2015 all positions will be filled by
election

the service, should be a non-member, if

12. Event Management Sub-Committee
• Short term sub-committee
• Life Cycle starts at the initiation of an
event and end at completion of the event
• One member from the board will be the
co-ordinator
• Rest of members will be selected from the
general member pool
• Allows everyone to take a visible role in
organization’s activities
