History• Texas A&M is the State’s first public institution of higher education. It has more than 50,000 students and over 10 different campuses.• Their main campus is 5,200 acres. It is also among the largest universities in the United States. The university was created in 1877 by the Texas legislature.• At first they didn’t allow women but under the presidency of General James Earl Rudder, they started admitting women in the 1960s.
