  1. 1. Imam Bukhari His life and Times

Imam Bukhari Muhammad Ibn Ismail Ibn Ibrahim Ibn al-Mughirah Ibn Bardiziyeh al-Bukhari محمد بن اسماعيل بن ابراهيم بن المغيرة بن بردزبه البخاري <ul><li>Born in July 20 , 810 CE ( Shawal 13, 194 AH ) in the city of Bukhara , in what is today Uzbekistan . </li></ul><ul><li>His father, Ismail Ibn Ibrahim , was a known Hadith scholar that died while Bukhari was young. </li></ul><ul><li>His family was a wealthy family </li></ul><ul><li>He lived during the Abbasid Period </li></ul><ul><li>He died in the year 870 CE ( 256 AH ), 60 years old in Khartank . </li></ul>

Imam Bukhari Early education (820-826) He underwent his early education under the guidance of his mother in his native city and by the age of eleven he finished his elementary studies and started to study hadith and memorized over 2000 Hadith. By age 16 he had memorized all the books of Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak, al-Wakee` & and other learned companions of al-Imam Abu Hanifa (may Allah be pleased with him).

Imam Bukhari <ul><li>His Books </li></ul><ul><li>The imam was the author of many books but some of the most well know are: </li></ul><ul><li>Al-Jaami’ As Saheeh (known as Saheeh Al-Bukharee ) </li></ul><ul><li>Qadaya as-Sahabah wat-Tabi`in </li></ul><ul><li>At-Tareekh Al-Kabeer </li></ul><ul><li>Asaamee As-Sahaabah </li></ul>
  6. 6. Imam Bukhari His Journey for Learning At the age of sixteen, he, together with his brother and widowed mother made the pilgrimage to Mecca. From there he made a series of travels in order to increase his knowledge of hadith. He went through all the important centers of Islamic learning of his time, talked to scholars and exchanged information on hadith. It is recorded that he stayed at Basrah for four or five years, and in the Hijaz for six; while he traveled to Egypt twice and to Kufah and Baghdad many times. Our Journey for Learning Our Journey, though not as hard as the Imam’s, was still in many ways tedious. I am sure we all had to make many sacrifices to achieve what we set out too. We should be inspired by our Imam and seek knowledge even if it takes us to the far corners of the world. We should make every effort to seek out and listen to scholars and never let an opportunity pass
