2. 2. Mission

To enrich the lives of people living with autism by exposing them to the unique experience of surfing.

Our program is made to relinquish the fallacy that because a person has autism means they cannot accomplish anything.
We take children with autism and our specially trained teachers give them explicate guidance while the trainer is on the board with them.
Giving these children the satisfaction of accomplishment means the world to them and their families.
The program
3. 3. The people who will be surfing with them will be highly trained and often are pros who are very humbled by this experience.
Surfers Healing wants to provide a fun and eventful day at the beach for not only the child but the family as well.
The Program
4. 4. Here is a link to give a good idea of what Surfers Healing is all about.

The Program
5. 5. The reason I decided to use this non profit is because I believe children with autism can be productive people in our society, and I believe this program displays that point perfectly.
Surfers Healing combines the love I have for surfing and the ocean with my beliefs I have about people with autism.
My own cousin suffers from high functioning autism so I know first hand the struggles an barriers that effect children with autism.
Personal Connection
7. 7. Shuttleworth foundationcontinued
Shuttleworth foundation
The Shuttleworth foundation appreciates fresh and innovative ideas.
The reason Mark Shuttleworth started the foundation, was to push innovative and courageous ideas.
Surfers Healing
The Paskowitz family saw a need and used deductive reasoning to piece together a program that would be fresh and helpful.
The program that Surfers Healing does is not only innovative but also very courageous, giving children with autism the chance to surf is something that has never been done before.
8. 8. Autism affects 1 out of 110 children
Autism is what doctors call a spectrum disorder, meaning that it does not effect everyone the same.
Autism effects children differently from severe cases, leaving the child with major learning disabilities to mild cases, where the person has normal learning abilities.

The Need
9. 9. In the summer of 2011 there were 16 camps help for autistic children and there families.
These event ranged from California to Puerto Rico, Hawaii to the East Coast.
Output
10. 10. The benefits that children and there families receive from there day at camp is beyond belief.
As one woman’s said, it is like being with a family of people who understand there struggle’s
The family gets to see the child succeed at something they probably never thought they would.
We will be giving these children the satisfaction of accomplishments, and that means the world to them and their families.
We want to allot the gift of the ocean to the autistic community
Outcome
11. 11. Some of Surfers Healing funds goes to equipment like wetsuits, surfboards, tents, rash guards, life vests, food and drinks.
The rest of the funds go to insurance, beach permits, administration cost.
Input
12. 12. The camps Surfers Healing have are completely free and the only way we can fund them is with your help.
To aggrandize the amount of camps we can hold we must be helped with donations.
A $25 donation will pay for one third of a child’s day.
Any donation are greatly appreciated

How you can help
