The EggThe egg will turn into a chickafter 21 days……..
Keeping Warm!• The eggs are keptwarm• Usually the hensits on the eggs tokeep them warm.
Incubator• However , we cannot use a hen so we willuse an incubator.
What This Means• An incubator keeps things at theright temperature . Can you think ofanywhere an incubator could beused? Think of little babies!• Our incubator will keep the eggs atthe correct temperature for thechicks to grow.
The Incubator• We have to turn the incubator threetimes a day to make sure thetemperature is even.
After 21 Days• If everything goescorrectly thechick’s will hatchafter 21 Days!
The Shell The eggs hard shellprotects the baby as itgrows. When the chick is readyto hatch it will peck atthe shell with it’s beakuntil the egg.
Hatching TimeoSlowly the chick willcome out from the eggThis can sometimestake up to a day.oThe chick is wet when ithatches from it’s egg.
The chicks feathers will dry quickly andsoon will become nice and fluffy.
Staying warm• The chicks must then be kept very warmfor the next few weeks.• We will use an infra red lamp to keepwarm.
We will then feed them well and look for agood home for them to go to.
We hope you enjoyed learning about our project. We will now ask a few questions and see whatyou remember.
