  2. 2. WHAT IS A KITE? • A kite is a quadrilateral in which two disjoint pairs of consecutive sides are congruent (“disjoint pairs” means that one side can’t be used in both pairs). • It is a quadrilateral with two distinct pairs of adjacent, congruent sides.
  3. 3. CHARACTERISTICS OF A KITE • The diagonals of a kite are perpendicular. • The main diagonal bisects a pair of opposite angles • The opposite angles at the endpoints of the cross diagonal are congruent.
  4. 4. THEOREMS RELATED TO KITES • THEOREM 10 states that in a kite, the perpendicular bisector of at least one diagonal is the other diagonal
  5. 5. THEOREMS RELATED TO KITES • THEOREM 11 states that the area of a kite is half the product of the lengths of its diagonals.
