  3. 3. The Introduction Page The main reason for a page like this was because are artist is in new and this seemed like the perfect opportunity for her to reach her fans on a personal level and expand on the idea of giving them something extra. The style of clothing on the artist in this image, promotes a very down to earth attitude especially through the way she is sitting and the fact that she is wearing geek glasses, something the ages of the intended target audience are very fond of. The majority of theThe only background exposed in the picture is not distracting so it does not background is blacked out whichdraw attention away from the message and image that the artist is trying to allows people just to focus on herportray. The message written in a handwritten font also builds a connection and her alone. This attitude isbetween the artist and the fans as it makes it more personal. This page has promoted by the artist in most of themore of a sentimental value which brands the kind of artist she is and producescertain representations of her which will remain prominent in the production of ancillary products.this kind of material. As seen the signature of the artist is in the same font thather name is written in on the front. This adds to the recognition of the artist anduses the conventions of artist font as a way of recognising the artist.
  4. 4. The PosterThe poster is that little something extra for the fans and seems The different use of colour shows a vibrant side to theappropriate due to the age of the intended target audience. This artist who will further attract the intended targetallows the artist to show an edgy side without altering the branding audience as their ages are of 16-25, which is still fairlycreated for her and the representations that have been established. young and prove to be attracted by colour. The wholeFor example if the poster was revealing of the artists body or image is young, from the style of clothes and hair to theattributes, it would paint a different picture to what has been created. poses shown, this shows a direct relationship betweenIt would be seen as out of character which could encourage bad the artist and the target audience.impressions for the artist which would be bad as she is establishing her The editing of the picture provides a shadow around theplace in the industry. artist which again highlights the artist herself. This stillThe font of the artist remains the same which the intended audience stays faithful to the representation of it being about herwill recognise as her signature. This brands the artist further and and her voice. Although the image has an edge it still inmakes her more recognisable amongst the work she does and what some ways represents simplicity as it is against a whiteshe puts out there. The picture reveals a slight edginess but the background and does not use any extravagant props orsignature reminds the audience of the elegance and simplicity that the settings which take focus away from the artist.artist wishes to promote amongst her products.
  5. 5. The Back Cover The back cover of the album is pretty similar to many in our genre. We used no back picture to allow more focus to the front of the cover and to keep up the humble, non-showy image that we created. The colour of the font is similar to that on the front, a kind of gold colour which is in keeping for the theme of this album. Although the font on the back differs from the font on the font, this font is bold and very to the point which symbolises the kind of music produced by the artist; for example with the intent of delivering a message as straightforward as possible. The icons on the bottom like Facebook and twitter were added for the fans to allow them feel closer to the artistAlso Professor Green, a feature in one of the songs from this artist’s album is whilst at the same time promoting thealso a part of the virgin records, in some ways provides a type of cross- artist and the album. 6. 6. The Interview The interview in the Digipak relates to the sneak preview of adding the personal touch to the album. The channel the artist being interviewed for, Chart Show TV, is in keeping with our target audience as it is the kind of channels that they would and the kind of channel that is accessible on sky, Freeview as well as online and as an application for most mobile phones. Having an interview with a music channel when you are an upcoming artist is very conventional. The style in which the interview has been carried out slightly challenges conventions as it is not carried out by a person but by text slides on the screen prompting the artist to answer. As she is an upcoming artist this allows the focus to be solely on her and for her to get the right points across efficiently in order for her to interest and gain fans.
  7. 7. The Sneak Preview Having a sneak preview in their instead of a live performance relates to the fact that our artist is upcoming and has not yet been on tour. The simplicity of it all relates to the non-showy personality of the artist and how she is humbled by the upstart of her career. It is also an added extra to make more of personal connection to the fans while she is still building up her fan base. From research it is also clear that fans like to see celebrities in different lights to the way they see them in music video’s etc. so by having something like this relates to the don to earth personality of the artist and allows the fans to see her in a state in which we all know celebrities go through but rarely get to see. Having the sneak preview of a song that is not on the album, gives fans something to look forward to and in a way assures them that they haven’t heard the last of the artist and intentions for more future releases are ahead. Based on the genre that the artist is a part of, it is common place for one hit wonders. The sneak preview and the album itself help to provide comfort for fans that they can expect more material from the artist.
  8. 8. The Magazine Advert The reason we chose to advert in this way is because it is very conventional to the majority of album magazine adverts that our produced. Having the picture of the album on that advert makes it easier to recognise for the audience who intend to buy the album. Never do you see a magazine advert without the picture of the album which is why we chose to follow these conventions. The majority of the information on the advert is the same that is shown on the album with a few additional extras. We added the websites of the artist instead of the Facebook and Twitter icons as it is not in keeping with the colour scheme or style of the magazine advert. We have also included other hit songs that are going to be on the album and those featuring in them. This allows the consumer to recognise other artists they might like who this artist has worked with. We have not included the price or stores sold at as the fact that its a Debut Album, suggests that it is going to be sold in the majority of stores at varied prices, as all stores price their items differently. We have included the record label icons of the artists as it is another way for consumers to recognise the artist and other artists who might be of a similar origin to ours. Our advert is very similar to those in artists similar to our own, such as Jessie J, Emeli Sande and Professor Green. We chose to use this font for the added information because it stands out and adds a sense of formal informality. It is also a font used before on these kinds of albums with songs that include rap and vocals. The font goes with the style of the artist as it looks sophisticated and classy.
  9. 9. Other Magazine AdvertsJessie JJessie Js magazine advert forher album is very similar toours as it has the sameinformation and is style in thesame portrait format . Thealbum is at the top of the pagelike ours which shows that thealbum is definitely the mainthe feature and not just apromotion of the artistthemselves but of whateverything the album standsfor as well; which in Jessie Jscase is bold, vibrant music.
