What is WizKids?<br />The newspaper “WizKids” is a project initiated by a group of ten highly motivated student managers.<br />The group realized that there is a vast lacuna in the market as far as reading content for kids is concerned.<br />This is addressed by launching an exclusive newspaper just for the kids.<br />

  4. 4. Who can read it?<br />The target audience of WizKids are children in the age group of 5 – 13 years.<br />Initially, it would be launched in South Delhi area only.<br />Gradually, it would be available pan-India.<br />

Situation Analysis<br />India is the world’s biggest newspaper market with 107 million copies daily.<br />Newspaper advertising sector like to grow by 8% this year.<br />Newspaper readership Tier -2 and Tier – 3 cities are still not as high as in Tier -1 cities.<br />The segment of newspaper for kids is relatively untapped.<br />
  10. 10. Customers<br />Our customers would be parents of children in the age group of 5 to 13 years and schools.<br />Initially, we plan to give free copies of the newspaper to schools, so that it can be distributed among kids.<br />
  11. 11. Competitors<br />DNA –“Youth Adults” – This newspaper targets children in the age group of 4-18 years. Has limited reach as it is delivered only on Wednesday. <br />The Hindu – “Young World” – This will be our strongest competitor. Delivered only on Tuesdays. <br />Times of India – NIE initiative – This newspaper caters to schools. <br />HT – HT Next - This newspaper caters to schools. <br />
  12. 12. Company<br />We are starting as a Private Limited with capital raised by all the 10 members.<br />We expect to start with an initial investment of Rs 1 lac.<br />In the long run, we intend to go public.<br />

Market Strategy<br />Tie up with five schools in the target area. <br />Distribution of questionnaire for parents (asking about the desired content, design, structure, number of pages, cost, frequency etc.) in these schools, which will be collected back in two daystime. <br />Distribution of pamphlets outlining the newspaper design and content (based on the feedback of questionnaire) in these schools. <br />

Contd…<br />Distribution of pamphlets in the residential areas of the target region. <br />Distribution of the first four issues as free samples in the target areas through vendors (Total Ten Thousand: Five Thousand in Tie up schools and Five Thousand in residential areas). <br />From second month onwards the issue will be bi-weekly and to the subscribers only. <br />
