www.CreativeYouthIdeas.comwww.creativeobjectlessons.comAn Illustration of PrayerThe angel Gabriel was giving a newlyarrived Christian a tour of heaven. Thetwo of them were walking side by sideinside a large mailroom filled withother angels.
www.CreativeYouthIdeas.comwww.creativeobjectlessons.comGabriel stopped in front of the firstsection and said, “This isthe Receiving Section. Here, all thepetitions sent to God in prayerare received.”The Christian saw that the sectionwas a very busy one with so manyangels sorting out petitions writtenon voluminous sheets of paper fromall the people of the world. They resumed walking until theyreached the secondsection. Gabriel told the Christian,“This is the Packaging and DeliverySection.
www.CreativeYouthIdeas.comwww.creativeobjectlessons.comHere, the blessings of God in answerto prayers are packed and deliveredto the those who are praying onearth.”The Christian saw how busy itwas. There were a great many angelsworking in that room becausecountless blessings were beingpacked and delivered to earth. Finally, at the farthest corner of theroom, they stopped at thelast section. To the surprise of theChristian, only one angel was thereand he was idle.
www.CreativeYouthIdeas.comwww.creativeobjectlessons.com“This is the AcknowledgingSection,” Gabriel told theChristian.“How is it that no work is beingdone here?”“That’s the sad thing,” Gabrielanswered.“After people on earth receivedthe blessings they asked for, veryfew of them bother to send theiracknowledgments.”“How does one acknowledgeGod’s blessing?”“Simple,” Gabriel answered. ”Justsay, ‘Thank you, Lord.’”
www.CreativeYouthIdeas.comwww.creativeobjectlessons.comVariation – An object Lesson orChildren’s Sermon on PrayerThis could easily be converted into asermon for kids, or an object lesson foryouth on “answered prayer.” Collect abunch of postcards and write prayersto God on them. “Dear God… APrayer… then sign it with aname. Then in another box havedeliveries that match the differentrequests. (Note some of the deliveriesmight be different than the actualrequest because God provides whatwe truly need and not what we thinkwe need.) Finally, have an empty boxfor the messages of Thanks.
