This chart is from the CDC and it shows the leading causes of nonfatal injuries The red boxes are for unintentional falls Except for one small portion of the population, falls are the leading cause of injuries that have to be treated in emergency rooms
  • Falls can also contribute to death. The red boxes again indicated those attributed to unintentional falls. What can we learn from these 2 charts? -- People of all ages fall -- People can seriously hurt themselves when they fall -- People can also die when they fall, especially older adults So if falls happen to everyone, some people might think that they are inevitable. But they are not!
