1. GearSwap
Buy, sell, and swap musical instruments and gear

2. Why do we need GearSwap?
•Musicians need a specialized space online to buy, sell,
and trade gear
•Musicians want to buy/sell a unique or special item
that might not be found in local classified ads
•Credibility is important – instruments are expensive
and well-loved objects that require maintenance and
care
•Would be geared towards serious musicians

3. Our approach
•Anyone can browse items for sale by category
•Only admins can add or delete categories
•Users must sign in to post listings or see contact info
in other listings
•Users can upload photos to accompany their listings
•Listings appear for only seven days

4. Our challenges
•Mock twitter and mock OmniAuth BDD testing
•Uploading multiple photos for each listing required a
new gem, nested_form, and a JavaScript test
•Sending Devise’s confirmation emails from the live
Heroku app using Postmark’s SMTP server
•Deploying on Heroku and maintaining all functionality

5. Our vision
• Branding – select an available name, acquire domain, use service such
as AWS’s Route 53 to have our app at that domain
• Monetize – charge business accounts for their posts, and in exchange
they can add extra information that functions as advertising
• Advertising – regional and national music organizations
• User reputation system to build trust
• Possible third-party escrow service
• Basic search of listings
• Polish formatting
