4. 4. How to Make it Easy
Most “projects” don’t need to be in a Project Manager
Meetings are fine, notes and follow-up most dealers do well anyways
Understand the “projects” that seem the most daunting and time consuming, yet seem like they would benefit your dealership
5. 5. Keeping it Easy
Once those projects are identified, ask the following questions:
Is there a good chance we’ll be in the same position a year from now?
Have we had false starts before?
Have we been thinking about this for awhile?
6. 6. Then ask this…
Do we have the internal resources that understand the planning and have the education and experience required to give us our best chance at success?
7. 7. You’ve gotta be honest…
If the answer is no… Two ways to go…
1: Longer way to ramp things up and learn the process… like years
2: Commit to a learning process, learn a basic program
8. 8. Look for Easy but Effective Methods
Identify an easy program like BaseCamp
Sign up for a free trial
Spend the 30 minutes viewing instructional videos
Try a small, easy project, keep it moving
9. 9. Then…
Take a hard look at the long term projects
Understand as completely as possible all of the steps
Understand responsibilities, who does what, when
Try a few, keep it moving, keep checking off your “to do” lists
10. 10. The Reality…
It’s hard to find the time to devote to the detail
11. 11. The Options
1: Do Nothing…
2: Keep doing what we’re doing, we’ll get there, we’re progressing…
3: Let’s at least try something… maybe it’ll help…
12. 12. Where to Start…
The Internet, “project management programs”, research the results
27 Steps to Understand… Whitepaper by EquipmentFX
View our 5 minute video
Call us with any questions!
