  • The Outsiders was set in 1963, It was published a couple years after SE Hinton wrote it. Even the movies that Francis Ford Coppola chose for the markee on the movie theater in the beginning are from 1963. The only reason I bring it up, is because the year changes the dynamics of the entire film.
