  6. 6. WHY NOOK? - Customer Service - Prepared for school inventory - CPS friendly - Cost – Simple Touch - No internet access on the device - Downloads only take place on the school’s Wi-Fi network - 2 year warranty program
  7. 7. HOW DO I SET-UP & MANAGE MY DEVICES? - Barcode-Barcode-Barcode - Use the provided grouping sequence - Connect to the school’s Wi-Fi Network - Purchase silicone covers - Charge devices at the school - Turn off the Wi-Fi to preserve the battery

  13. 13. STUDENT USE - Have an orientation session with the students - Discuss how the devices should be treated - Discourage students from cleaning the devices - Have iClean and microfiber cloths ready for use - Use the videos on Barnesandnoble.com as an additional resource

STUDENT USE Create a permission slip for NOOK use - student/parent/guardian is responsible for the damaged or stolen device - include permission to read adult content - include permission to use images on social media Discuss when and where devices should be used - i.e. in class - i.e. on public transportation Discuss when students should bring devices to school
  15. 15. Make Book Club Meetings Fun! - Try to have a ‘themed’ snack for the meeting - Visit a website that supports elements from the story - Play music that is referenced in the story - Engage the students in a fun art activity BOOK CLUB MEETINGS
