A walk through the interactive design history of pdx.edu from 1996 - 2010, including the impact the web interactive team brought to pdx.edu - from the launch of Drupal CMS in Feb 2009, to interactive features in Oct. 2009 - 2010, and our pending release of Drupal 7 and multi-level templates, inclusive of a completely re-architected, re-designed user experience across 180 + sites.

  • Implementing a complete brand re-fresh to bring multi-level templates supporting dev, stage and production deployment process, wrangling 300+ sites into an enterprise-level CMS, backed with full analytics, integrated search, global breadcrumbs and site-wide navigation and IA to gently guide the 800k visits across the 2.9 million page views for our 345k unique monthly visitors (Feb-Mar, 2011 Google stats). When I walked into the position, we had no analytics, 58 sites leveraging a single brand template struggling under a page load time of 20-30 seconds per page in a home-grown system with minimal support. We've come a long way since, now in our second major release in under three years and a multi-platform deployment environment. Details? Watch for the new site(s*) to launch in the summer of 2011.

(* migrating 160 Drupal 6 single template sites to Drupal 7 multi-level template sites with integrated social media, search, multi-level navigation, syndicated content sharing, and a re-dressed back-end CMS staging and deployment process.)

  • We've listened. And we're bringing flexibility, beauty, and freedom, all while maintaining a strong brand message and consistent user navigation. A win-win all the way around. We think our community - internal and external, is gonna love it. We're banking on it.

  • We were also proud to support the roll-out of the long-awaited student portal, my.pdx.edu. It still has a long way to go, but it's a great one-stop resources for students to access, in a single stop, courses, grades, bills, and campus messages.
