“I was in Bombay to direct the film and we started looking for fresh faces to
play the two leading ladies. For the first role, I wanted someone that had an
innocent look and did not have much acting experience. Of the photos
shown to me, I selected one actor who fit the bill and had only played a role
in a non commercial movie called Abodh before. She accepted the offer, we
booked her dates and during song recording she even came and gave us
flower bouquet as a gesture of gratitude. But a few days later she called to
