Jules Verne

  1. 1. About the author Jules Verne was a French novelist and poet, best known for his adventure novels. He was born in Nantes, raised to be a lawyer as his father , but quit the profession early , to write for magazines. Verne is the second most-translated author in the world, between Agatha Christy and William Shakespeare. He is often called as the ‘’father of science fiction’’
  2. 2. Around the world in 80 days (1873) In the story , Phileas Fogg is a rich English gentleman , who lives a modest life , and likes to do all things with a mathematical way. In Reform club , in which he spends most of his day , he bets £ 20.000 with the other members, that he can travel all around the world in 80 days.. So, he starts his journey with his valet Passepartout. He is watched by detective Fix, who suspects Fogg as someone who has robbed a bank in London. We can see the map of his journey below:

  6. 6. Other well-known novels are: 20.000 leagues under the sea From the earth to the moon Journey to the center of the earth
  7. 7. The most amazing thing in Verne’s novels is that he wrote fiction stories about journeys at the moon or in the sea, that happened in real, many years later. It’s like he inspired people, make these journeys true. WHAT ONE MAN CAN IMAGINE, ANOTHER WILL SOMEDAY BE ABLE TO ACHIEVE
